- Possess a current valid driver's license. Must be REAL ID compliant.
- Applicants must be 21 at the time of application and under 37 at the time of a conditional offer, unless they have prior federal law enforcement service under special retirement provisions. Veterans' preference applicants must receive a conditional offer before age 40.

Qualifications
- Have uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100 binocular and corrected vision of 20/20 in each eye. Corrective eye surgeries (Lasik, PRK, ALK, RK) are acceptable with required waiting periods and passing visual tests. The following are waiting periods for visual tests: Lasik-2 months after surgery, PRK-6 months after surgery, ALK and RK-one year after surgery.
- Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500,1000 and 2000Hz ranges.
- Since the duties of this position are exacting and involve the responsibility for the safety of others under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any condition that would hinder full efficient performance of the duties of this position or that would cause the individual to be a hazard to himself/herself or to others is disqualifying.

Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-12 Level (starting base salary $75,706) you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is outlined as:
- Participates as a team member in planning, coordinating, and conducting Federal investigative activities. Investigations involve surveillance assignments, developing and controlling informants, and activities concerning organized crime and/or subversive groups; AND
- Develops and uses information from a wide variety of sources such as electronic devices, informants, private citizens, victims, and officials from Federal law enforcement agencies, to investigate and, when appropriate, apprehend individuals suspected of being involved in crimes; AND
- Works closely with Federal agencies in preparing and presenting cases for prosecution in Federal courts.
To qualify for the GS-13 Level (starting base salary $90,025) you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is outlined as:
- Investigates violations of the laws of the United States relating to fraudulent manufacture and/or use of credit/debit cards, access devices, computers/telecommunications equipment, and Federal government identification; AND
- Coordinates investigations with Federal jurisdictions and/or assists foreign officials in cases of international scope; AND
- Analyzes and evaluates short- and long-term Federal programs, projects, and operations, providing advice and recommendations concerning the evaluation of actual or potential effectiveness in achieving program goals.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.
