  Retired Special Agent in Charge Charles (Chuck) Friend, Jr., of the Office of Protective Research passed away October 23, 2018, as a result of contracting cancer attributed to his exposure during recovery efforts at the Fresh Kills (NY) landfill 9/11 site in the aftermath of September 11, 2001.
