CROWN POINT, Ind. – A Lake County, Indiana, man has been charged with multiple counts of possessing child sexual abuse material, following an investigation led by the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the U.S. Secret Service.
Brian C. Sadowski, 56, of Griffith, Indiana, was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography after he was taken into police custody on July 10. Charges were filed the following day in Lake County Superior Court.
The investigation, conducted as part of the task force, included investigators from Indiana State Police, Lake County Sheriff’s Department, Griffith Police Department, and the U.S. Secret Service.
The investigation found that between Feb. 25, 2025, and July 9, 2025, Sadowski downloaded images of child sexual abuse material involving young children to a computer at his residence. On one occasion, Sadowski downloaded 9,165 files from a site that offenders are known to use for sharing child sexual abuse material.
When speaking with investigators, Sadowski admitted he viewed and downloaded the material for his personal use and said, “I know I made a mistake,” and “I know I looked at things I shouldn’t have looked at.”
He also wrote an apology letter to victims that included, “My loneliness or past physical abuse is not an excuse to look or seek this type of content. I know I made the mistake and take full accountability of my choices.”
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
