Karon Ransom Named Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service Las Vegas Field Office

Las Vegas – Karon Ransom has been named special agent in charge (SAIC) of the U.S. Secret Service Las Vegas Field Office. With more than 25 years of experience with the Secret Service, Ms. Ransom most recently served as the deputy special agent in charge (DSAIC) of the Inspection Division.
Promoted to DSAIC in 2020, Ms. Ransom managed a diverse team in the internal affairs (IA) section within the Inspection Division charged with the responsibility of conducting a wide range of special investigations and administrative process reviews.


Ms. Ransom began her supervisory career in 2015 as an assistant to the special agent in charge (ATSAIC) in the Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division (PID) where she served in multiple assignments that included managing the intake of protective intelligence (PI) incidents and coordination of investigative efforts, oversight of the Risk Management Branch and Open Source Unit.  Ms. Ransom then transferred to the Inspection Division as an assistant inspector and was eventually promoted to inspector in 2019.  As part of leading compliance inspection teams, she coordinated manpower and logistics for field office compliance inspections and process reviews.


Ms. Ransom began her career with the U.S. Secret Service as a Uniformed Division officer in 1997.  In 1998 she accepted the position of special agent in the Los Angeles field office.  Ms. Ransom held various roles within the agency throughout her special agent career, which included leading nationwide recruitment efforts; coordinating PID intake and management of regional PI investigations; investigating criminal cases involving fraud, identity theft, and counterfeit U.S. currency; along with a liaison assignment with the FBI-JTTF.


Prior to joining the Secret Service, Ms. Ransom graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and political science.  In 2017, Ms. Ransom completed the Equal Employment Opportunity counselor certification program.
