Investigative Support Assistant

Investigative support assistants provide administrative and technical support to special agents in the areas of investigation, protection, counterfeit, asset forfeiture and financial crimes. Incumbents open, maintain and close case files and ensuring all documents are filed in accordance with established guidelines; conduct preliminary searches of and/or inputting data into computerized criminal databases to develop background information; process, package, and maintain evidence and tracking chain of custody; perform audits of counterfeit and other evidence; process fingerprints; track and compile criminal history statistics and reports; provide guidance to law enforcement agencies, financial institutions and local businesses in identifying counterfeit currency and counterfeit trends; receive and screen visitors and telephone calls for office personnel; and direct visitors and callers to appropriate staff members.
